Have you ppl been watching Princess Hours (translated as Goong) on 8TV lately? I am currently so obsessed with the show! I even persuaded Ned to find the DVDs for me since I missed out the first few episodes. It is a very sweet, romantic comedy. Goong (2006) was listed as top ten drama in Korea.
Good news to those who are a fan of Goong. There will be Goong 2 - the true sequel from Goong storyline, unlike Goong S. Actors like Yoon Eun Hye and Kim Jeong Hoon will be back in the sequel as well!
My Review :
The ending of the show is somehow draggy, and a'lil too predictable for me. If only MBC had asked me to edit the original Man Hwa story. I'll put in more sweet and romantic scenes of Prince Yul with Chae Kyung, and Prince Shin dying of jealousy!! Wuahahaha!
Yoon Eun Hye as Shin Chae Kyung:
She is a member of the popular K-group Baby V.O.X and this is her first time acting in a K-drama. Although many members of the entertainment industry had doubted her capabilities as an actress, she definitely showed them wrong by her astounding performance in this drama! Her acting was natural, her expressions clearly expressing the emotions that Chae Kyung was experiencing without being over the top. She exerted the elegance of a Crown Princess along with the innocence of a young teenage girl falling in love for the first time. Her chemistry with Shin was fantastic, and you can't help but feel her joys and sorrows with her as you watch the drama grow.
Joon Ji Hun as Lee Shin:
Another newcomer to the K-drama scene. He was definitely the best choice for Shin as he was able to portray the aloofness, the loneliness and the twisted feelings of turmoil that the character was feeling. Although he sort of came off as being slightly more wooden in his acting as compared to Yoon Eun Hye, he grows on you as the drama progresses and you just can help but fall in love with him along with Chae Kyung.
Kim Jeong Hun as Lee Yul:
His charming smile and looks are exactly what I expected the character Yul to look like. I felt Yul successfully potray a sad and melancholy character as he was torn between his love, his mother and his family. Throughout the whole drama, his love for Chae Kyung never fade, and you could feel his sorrows and heartaches when he sees Shin and Chae Kyung together. He did charm me especially on scenes where he shows his affections to Chae-Kyung. The first half of the drama, I was hoping the story ended with the two of them together.
Sung Ji Hyo as Hyo Rin:
She definitely has to work on her acting skills and expressions, as she had ONE expression throughout the entire drama. Hyo Rin in this drama was supposed to be an intelligent, beautiful, talented ballet dancer. But I thought she looked pale and dressed older than her age most of the time. Blame that on the MUA (Make Up Artist). But to give her credit, she is really one pretty girl.
