Overprice Rates At Hospital

Overdue Post (July 2007)

Bad news. Ned's grandfather was admitted to Gleneagles Hospital in Penang last week due to some

blockage of veins arteries in the lungs. According to the doctors there, they have to perform a surgery

called "blowing of artery" (no idea wat's the exact medical term is) or the grandfather's life will be

at stake and he has to go back for check-ups every 3 days. Btw, he is already 85 years old.

Luckily, the surgery went well yesterday and by the time we went to visit him in the afternoon, he

was already looking much better. But one thing is the medical expenses.... shocking! One artery

needs 20k and his grandfather has got 2 arteries blocked. And staying 1 week in the hospital alone

already costs 15k++ :: fainted ::

Why so expensive wan?! Then for those poor ppl how? Wait die ah?!

I know ppl will prolly be saying if cannot afford then go Government Hospital lar. Talking bout

Malaysia's Government Hospital... sighz. Do you ppl know that to perform such surgery will have

to wait mths in a General Hospital?! Old ppl how to wait?!! Sumore difficulties in breathing u know?!

If you were in his shoes and have to wait for 6 mths to perform the surgery, how? I think I would

have rather died.

Why our General Hospital cannot be like those specialist? Malaysia not enug doctors izit? Why need

to wait mths? Why Gleneagles and other specialist hospitals can do a surgery almost immediately?

(That is after you pay them a large sum of money, of coz.)

I simply dun understand la. I hope Malaysia Government will look into this matter and make a change.

Give the poor a chance to live.
